In February of 2018, the City of Huntsville adapted a Complete Streets Policy to address the movement of people across our city. The Complete Streets Policy takes into consideration the movement of people, cyclist, and public transit in addition to motor vehicle traffic. The result of the Complete Streets policy is a creative and innovative approach to the City of Huntsville's transportation network. (You can learn more here!)
In addition, the City of Huntsville was one of three cities to win a prestigious grant allowing them to participate in the Safe Streets Smart Cities Academy by Smart Growth America. This Academy allows City of Huntsville employees to learn from national experts about Complete Streets models, collaborate with peer cities, and discuss best practices in engineering, tactical urbanism, creative placemaking, community engagement, and emerging technologies.
And the best part of Complete Streets Policy - it could have an economic impact on your business! Come learn about the Complete Streets Policy from Paige Colburn, Long Range Planner for the City of Huntsville.
